Tutorial: Felt Flower Pin

Welcome back to the Handcrafted Easter Event here at Daydream Believers! :)

You are going to LOVE today’s tutorial! I’m going to teach you my favorite way to make a fun, felt flower pin. I know there are a lot of ways to make felt flowers; this one is my favorite! The flowers are easy to assemble and made with supplies you probably have on hand in your craft-stash. You can finish the flowers off in back with a silver bar pin, an alligator clip, or my fav a combination bar pin/clip; so you and your little loves can wear these flowers pinned to a shirt, jacket, dress, scarf, clipped to a purse, headband, necklace, or right into your hair! Gotta’ love that!

You can easily customize these flowers (making them more dressy or more funky) depending on the color combination you select.

Supplies:
Felt (we will be cutting 1.5” x 12” strips… so 9’”x12” craft felt sheets work perfectly!) Choose 3 colors plus green for leaves.
Glue Gun
Scissors
Pin/Clip for the back

Prep Work:
1.) Cut felt into a 1.5”x12” strip. You will need to cut one strip from each color felt. (3 strips total)
2.) From your green felt, cut out 3 little leaves. I cut my football-shaped leaves to be 1 inch long.
3.) Cut a 2-3 inch circle of felt - this will be the base of of you pin.

Instructions:
Step 1: Cut slits into each felt strip. Slits should be 1 inch long. Try to keep the width consistent.
Step 2: With your glue gun in hand, tightly roll your felt strip from left to right, gluing along the bottom as you roll.
Step 3: Fan out your “petals” – Yea! You’ve made a felt flower! See, totally easy! Repeat steps 1-3 for each flower.

Step 4: Add a tiny dab of glue to the bottom center of each leaf and pinch to roll. Set aside.
Step 5: Using a generous amount of glue, attach all 3 flowers and all 3 leaves to your circle base.
Step 6: Hot glue one side of your pin/clip to the circle base and enjoy your pretty new pin!

Note: If you are using an alligator clip instead of a pin/clip, you will want to cut an additional strip of felt, the length of the circle base, and hot glue it in between the alligator clamps to secure the clip to the base.

Be sure to stop back by tomorrow for the final day of the Handcrafted Easter Event! I’m showing you how to make the easiest earrings ever! Here’s a peek…
